Tenuta Ferrata is located in Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north-eastern slopes of Mount Etna. Born from a project of the Virlinzi family, the estate reflects a strong commitment to the local landscape, nature and Sicily’s winemaking tradition. Its 22 hectares of vineyards lie at approximately 650 metres above sea level, surrounded by volcanic soils, lava stone and rich biodiversity. The estate’s philosophy is rooted in respect for the land and the winemaking traditions of Etna. The vineyards are mainly tended by hand and trained using both espalier and traditional bush-vine systems, with particular attention to preserving the natural balance of the environment. Tenuta Ferrata is also distinguished by the close relationship between wine and art: its labels, created by pop artist Sdrina, turn each bottle into a unique artistic expression of the winery’s identity. The estate takes its name from the historic Circumetnea railway line, which has crossed the vineyards since 1895, creating a distinctive connection between Etna’s history, landscape and wine culture.
