Description
Located at the foot of the majestic Monte Orfano, Tenuta Martinelli extends across the municipalities of Cologne, Provaglio d’Iseo, Passirano, and Cazzago San Martino, in a territory rich in history and unique geological features. The estate’s vineyards, cultivated on terraced colluvial and morainic soils, benefit from a mosaic of soils and ideal microclimates that give the grapes a unique complexity and minerality. Monte Orfano, a pre-Alpine ridge with an elongated and isolated profile, is the distinctive element of this area. Formed from ancient marine sediments dating back to the Miocene period, the territory is characterized by the so-called “Red Earth”, a calcareous soil enriched with clay and iron oxides, which provides exceptional fertility and mineral richness. Beyond its geological value, Monte Orfano tells a millennial story of human settlement and the use of its natural resources: the conglomerate stone extracted from these hills contributed to the construction of fortifications, religious buildings, and homes, testifying to the deep bond between the land and the local community. The estate and winery are immersed in this landscape of great charm and biodiversity, where winemaking tradition meets technical excellence and the passion of those who cultivate these lands. Thanks to these unique conditions and a careful, respectful approach, Tenuta Martinelli produces wines that fully express the identity of the Franciacorta terroir, with structure, elegance, and profound minerality.
