1970
The Origins of a Passion
In the 1970s, Silvano Piacentini, Verona’s first professional sommelier and one of the founders of Vinitaly, opened a new path in the city’s wine scene. Leading the historic Bottega del Vino, he laid the foundations of a philosophy that still guides Premium Wine Selection today: selecting and promoting excellent wines and spirits, bringing them to an international audience through careful, high-quality distribution.
1977
Professional Experience
In 1977, Silvano Piacentini became CEO of the Istituto Enologico di Verona. Under his leadership, the company quickly became a reference point for the distribution of fine wines and spirits, specializing in supply to restaurants, hotels, and wine shops.
1978
Gemma is Born
Driven by the desire to produce great Italian wines locally, Silvano Piacentini founded Gemma in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. Here, Barolo, Barbera, and Barbaresco, come to life, wines that embody the perfect fusion of tradition, terroir and a constant pursuit of excellence.
2000
The Founding of Premium Wine Selection
Together with his children, Luigi and Luisa, Silvano Piacentini founded Premium Wine Selection, which over the years has become a leading player in the distribution of fine wines and international spirits. The headquarters, located in Valpolicella, symbolically represents the company’s connection to one of the world’s most renowned wine regions.
2015
Silvano Piacentini Wines
In 2015, the “Silvano Piacentini” line was launched, dedicated to the Veronese territory and its great classics: Amarone, Valpolicella Ripasso, Valpolicella Classico, and Soave. A production that celebrates our homeland and reflects values of quality and authenticity.
2016
Società Excellence e Champagne Experience
Premium Wine Selection joined Società Excellence, a network that brings together Italy’s leading operators in fine wine distribution. This led to direct involvement in international events, such as Modena Champagne Experience, Italy’s largest event entirely dedicated to Champagne.
Today
International Distribution and New Horizons
Today, Premium Wine Selection collaborates with over 35 carefully selected Italian and international wineries, chosen for their excellence and strong territorial connection. Our mission remains the same: to guarantee professionals, restaurants, wine shops, and hotels a reliable and updated wine and spirits distribution, capable of telling a unique story of quality and authenticity through each product.
